About Connie

In 1978, at 19, I wanted to move from Madison, Wisconsin, to Seattle, Washington, for reasons I didn't understand. I met my future husband, Ryan, while he was finishing his Master's degree. He agreed to join me on my journey. Our first stop was Puyallup, Washington, where we lived for ten years, had two daughters, and enjoyed life on a five-acre farm with sheep, chickens, geese, cats, and two dogs.

In 1988, unhappy with his job, we moved to Bellingham, a beautiful city near the Canadian border. That year, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, drastically changing my life as my legs became weak. I sought an activity that required only my hands. Our realtor introduced me to J&R Stained Glass, where I took a broken stained glass parrot for repair. The owner encouraged me to take a class to learn how to repair it myself, which sparked my passion for stained glass.

After over 30 years of making panels and lamps, my back pain led me to take a class on glass fusing, which was easier on my body. I bought a kiln, but it sat unused for six months because I was intimidated by it. I needed to learn about glass coefficients and kiln programming. I did and I’ve never looked back. Join me! FAQ

  • Fused glass tableware is not only a stunning addition to any table but is also designed with practicality. Each piece undergoes a process of fusion at high temperatures, which enhances its durability. As a result, fused glass tableware is dishwasher safe, allowing for easy cleanup without compromising its vibrant colors or intricate designs even after multiple washes.

  • Fused glass is renowned for its scratch-resistant properties, making it an ideal material for both functional and artistic pieces. Created through the intense fusion of glass at high temperatures, the resulting surface is not only durable but also maintains its vibrant colors and smooth finish over time.

  • Glass slumping is a glass forming technique that involves heating glass to a temperature where it becomes soft enough to take on the shape of a mold. This process typically occurs at temperatures between 1,100°F to 1,400°F (593°C to 760°C). During slumping, the glass is placed over a mold, and as it heats, gravity and the weight of the glass allow it to flow and conform to the contours of the mold beneath it. The result is a beautifully shaped piece of glass that can be used for various applications, including art, decor, and functional items. Slumping can create an array of textures and depth, showcasing the interplay of light and color uniquely. This innovative technique not only enhances the aesthetic qualities of glass but also expands its potential for creative expression.

  • Glass fusing is a fascinating process that involves melting together various pieces of glass in a specialized kiln, achieving temperatures that range between 1400 and 1500 degrees Fahrenheit. This high-temperature fusion allows the glass to meld seamlessly, creating unique and visually stunning pieces of art.
